15 BEST HEAVY METAL GROUPS OF ALL TIMES AND PEOPLES (part 3)

System of a Down

The Armenian-American group System of a Down was founded in California in 1994. She has sold over 40 million copies of her albums and was nominated four times for the Gramm Prize. And today, this gang is full of fans around the world. They started with performances in California clubs. During one of the concerts, producer Rick Rubin noticed and immediately took it under the wing. Their songs ‘Sugar’ and ‘Spides’ quickly gained popularity, but the group did not last long, parting in 2006. Four years later, System of a Down reunited again, although it did not regain its former popularity, once again returning to the format of the club group.

Slayer

It’s nice to watch metalworkers when they are no longer boys, and Slayer is no exception. After the release of the scandalous single ‘Reign of Blood’ – “The Power of Blood” – the group instantly gained popularity. Soon, they won two Grammy awards. True, their songs were often banned because of their scandalous content: murder, death, necrophilia, satanism, crimes against the person, terrorism, Nazism – this is not an exhaustive list of favorite topics of these glorious guys. Religious organizations have repeatedly protested against albums, on the covers of which the satanic signs and even Satan himself appear. Their debut album Show No Mrecy – No Pity – was no exception. This, however, did not prevent the sales figure of their records from reaching 4 million. Recently, the group sparkled a new line of popularity: the star of the reality show and the icon of the style Kendall Jenner from the Jenner-Kardashian clan was caught by the paparazzi who put on the Slayer paraphernalia. Guitarist Gary Holt greeted this gesture by Kendall, wearing a T-shirt with the words “Kill the Kardashians” in response.

Iron maiden

The famous “Iron Virgin” is a unique case in the history of rock: almost without the support of radio and television, the group gained enormous world fame, becoming one of the most successful rock bands in history. She already has 38 albums, and it seems Iron Maiden cannot be stopped. Their best works are Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind albums. Each time after the next album, the public wondered: are the Satanists members of the group or not? There was no direct answer – and this only fueled interest: according to the calculations of music journalists, by its forty-year history by 2015 the group had sold more than 90 million copies of their albums and gave more than 2 thousand shows. If you respect rock, then the song ‘The Trooper’ is a must-have!

Alice in chains

Strictly speaking, Alice in Chains is not a pure metal, but rather a hybrid of metal and grunge. The group fit perfectly into this non-standard style. Alice in Chains achieved success in the 1990s, along with a number of Seattle gangs, including Nirvana and Pearl Jam. One of the best songs is considered to be ‘Rooster’ from the second album with the talking name Dirt – “Dirt”. The song has repeatedly sounded in films and television shows, including in the animated series about Beavis and Butt-head. Soon the group was struck by tragedy – vocalist Lane Staley lost the long and bloody battle with drugs. The new vocalist is William Duvall, who works in the group to this day. A few years later, bassist Mike Starr died of a drug overdose. But, to the delight of the fans, the group continues to play so far, and is currently working on their sixth album.

Metallica

Perhaps the most iconic metal band in the world. On her account – many awards, a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the almost official title of the most successful heavy metal band of all time. As authors of film music, they also reached the level of giants: their song ‘I Disappear’ became the soundtrack to the blockbuster “Mission Impossible – 2”. Formed in 1981, the group is not going to give up, and in November promises to please fans with its new album.
