The Rolling Stones (English “rolling stones” or “tumbleweed”) is a British rock band formed on July 12, 1962 and for many years competed in popularity with The Beatles. The Rolling Stones, which became an important part of the British invasion, are considered one of the most influential and successful bands in rock history. The Rolling Stones, which, according to the plan of manager Andrew Meadow Oldham, were supposed to be a “rebellious” alternative to The Beatles, was already advertised as the “greatest rock and roll band in the world” during the American tour in 1969 and (according to Allmusic), managed to keep this status to this day.
The musical style of The Rolling Stones, formed under the influence of Robert Johnson, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddy and Muddy Waters, acquired individual characteristics over time; The author’s duet Jagger-Richards ultimately gained worldwide recognition. Continue reading
